Corey Burke is an American woman who came into the spotlight in November 2024 after news broke out that she killed her father. On November 11, 2024, Corey Burke was charged by the prosecutors of King County with the first-degree murder of her father, Timothy Burke. It was surprising that Corey Burke, but it was more surprising that she killed her father using an ice climbing axe.
Early Life and Education
Corey Burke was born on October 25, 1991, in Seattle, Washington. She had a normal childhood. Upon coming of age, she was enrolled in a local elementary school for her early education. After that, she proceeded to high school, where she participated in various co-curricular activities, including football.
Upon graduating from high school, Corey Burke proceeded to the City College of New York for her undergraduate studies in English literature and history. She graduated in 2014, and she began looking for work. Corey worked in several areas before landing a job in 2019 with Blue Origin, a private aerospace manufacturer and space flight services company. Corey Burke worked as a training program manager.
Personal Life
Regarding her love life, Corey Burke was openly a lesbian. She was dating a lady named Samantha Lee Allen. Samantha was a well-known writer. The two were dating for a while, but neighbours noted that Samantha had never visited Corey Burke in her Seattle residence.
As for her living arrangement, Corey Burke was living with her father in a three-bedroom house in Spear Place in Seattle, Washington. The house was bought for 830,000 in June 2023. Timothy Burke, Corey Burke’s father, had physical limitations and rarely left the house.
Incident
On November 5, 2024, Corey Burke committed the heinous act after arguing with her father. King County police officers noted that the two were living together and there were several cases of violence. It was further determined that Corey and her father were fighting because of turning off the lights. Corey insisted on turning off the lights, but her father wanted them to be on. On that fateful day, Corey Burke asked her father to turn off the lights, but he declined. This agitated Corey. She took an axe and went to her father and then strangled him. She also struck him on the head several times, using both sides of the axe.
After realizing that her father was still breathing, she sat on his chest until he stopped breathing.
On hearing the commotion and smashing of the windows, the neighbours called the police officers, who came and found Corey Burke outside the house. Corey had blood on her face, and the police asked if she had any injuries. She noted that she was sick and asked to be taken to the hospital. It was later determined that she had killed her father with an axe.
Aftermath
While appearing in court, the prosecutors of King County found Corey Burke guilty of first-degree murder. The court set bail at 2 million dollars, and the case is still ongoing.
